PSAC is having an Urgent Townhall on Workforce Adjustments and Cuts

The Carney government’s latest plan to slash public service budgets puts thousands of jobs and the services people rely on at risk.

We’ve already seen 10,000 federal jobs lost in the past year, with nearly 2,000 PSAC members impacted by workforce adjustment. Now, with departments being told to find up to 15% in “operational savings” over the next three years, even more workers could be facing layoff notices.

Join us for a virtual town hall to discuss the latest developments, how these cuts could impact you, and what we can do to fight back.

Tuesday, July 22 at 6 p.m. ET

OR

Wednesday, July 23 at 8 p.m. ET

This is your opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and hear about the steps we’re taking to defend public service workers.

Hope to see you there,

PSAC-AFPC

National Indigenous History Month

National Indigenous History Month

PSAC Ontario celebrates National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21st), by recognizing and honouring the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and the outstanding contributions of First Nation, Inuit and Métis people across Turtle Island. This year marks a decade since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission presented the “94 Calls to Action”, setting the foundation for reconciliation between Canadians and Indigenous Peoples. In June 2019, is where the final report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, entitled Reclaiming Power and Place was presented. It delivers 231 individual calls for justice directed at governments, institutions, social service providers, industries, and Canadians. As Indigenous people, allies, and activists, we all have a part to play in moving these calls to action forward, using our voice and demonstrating support through awareness and education.

Also, PSAC LONDON AREA COUNCIL recently sponsored some members to attend this Halluci Nation concert to support Indigenous artists and it was amazing! Stay tuned for more events and hopefully a future PSAC Southwest Indigenous People’s Circle…
