Attn: IMPORTANT INFO ON OTHER PAID LEAVE(699)
Hello CEIU LOCAL 581 members.
If you need to request other paid leave(699) for Covid related reasons, see union instructions below:
-request/submit Leave With Pay for Other Reasons (699) before submitting /exhausting other types of leave, such as Paid Family Related Leave/Paid Sick Leave/Vacation Leave. *
-put the requests into PeopleSoft* (or by e-mail if you do not have access to PeopleSoft at the time). -When entering the leave request into PeopleSoft please follow the below referenced section: “Requesting this leave under Article 53.01(a) because of circumstances beyond my control as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic due to i.e. childcare not being available, compromised health issues, etc. (keep the reason short and simple) and would not be asking for this type of leave if it was not for the ongoing pandemic situation.”
-If you have had a phone call with your supervisor make sure it is in writing somewhere and you keep documentation. Follow-up the phone call in writing with an e-mail summarizing the conversation and what you have understood. -This leave is a collective agreement right and was bargained in good faith; the new direction from Treasury Board disregards the intent of the article
**Even though this is no longer the TBS direction for departments to be following. **

Please contact your local union exec group localceiu581@gmail.com if you are denied this type of leave and wish to potentially pursue a grievance or if you are being told you can’t submit other paid leave, it doesn’t exist anymore etc.
