In line with PSAC and CEIU National; CEIU Local 581 has set a deadline for its members to make a claim for a local strike pay top up. This is required in order to ensure we are able to obtain funds from CEIU Ontario Region that we will then direct to our members.

The deadline for CEIU Local 581 is November 30, 2023.

All members wanting to receive a top up from our local must have submitted a pay stub dated July 19, 2023 or earlier to localceiu581@gmail.com and fully completed the google Claim Form no later than November 30, 2023.

Any member that has not completed these two required steps by November 30, 2023 relinquishes any entitlement to a strike pay top up from CEIU Local 581.

As the sixth month since the end of the strike approaches, they have set October 31, 2023, as the deadline for strike pay errors to be signaled.

At CEIU, we have chosen to also communicate our timelines. The following information applies to the national top-up (50$/day). For any questions about local top-ups, please contact your local union.

Should there be some type of error in your file, you have until November 15th, 2023 to communicate this to us at CEIU. Strike pay top-up payments will not be made following this date.

Convention 2023: Enough is Enough

Our CEIU LOCAL 581 Union’s credential entitlement for the Ontario Federation of Labour’s 17th Biennial Convention, scheduled for November 20-24, 2023 is 2 delegates. Also note that CEIU Ontario is eligible for an additional five (5) young worker credential entitlements in accordance with Article IV, Section 4 of the OFL Constitution. If you would like to be considered to attend as a delegate (young worker who would like to attend, please email localceiu581@gmail.com BEFORE September 29, 2023. Please be reminded that expenses for attendance at the OFL Biennial Convention are not covered; however, CEIU Ontario does have a budget line for this event and will consider all requests to cover some expenses for those members who request it.
