Candidate for CEIU Ontario NVP

Travis Lahnalampi

I am excited to announce that I am running… to be 1 of the 2 CEIU Ontario Region’s National Vice-Presidents (NVP).
First I want to thank my nominator Sister Sara Johnson Vleuten and seconder Brother Sandy Snider from CEIU Local 00581 (London, Ontario)..
This is a unique time in our union and our region.  Trusteeship has not been easy road, but it has presented an opportunity to break with the past, and with practices that in part led us into trusteeship.
As my Brother Brad Stoodley has said, we – the members have a special opportunity for change and for growth, for better communication with other, and learning from you, the members.  Now is the time to build our union, not just for the future, but for the here and now. My experience includes Local 00570 President, a National Vice-President for Ontario (April to June 2015), Alternate NVP for CEIU Ontario Region (3 different terms), past Local Vice-President with CEIU Local 00638 (Toronto EI Contact Centre) and with CEIU Local 00534 (Sudbury, Ontario).
My most recent experience in leadership with our union was serving as a member of our PA bargaining team with Sister Nathalie Paulin and then Sister Sargy Chima.  We have achieved a tentative deal with No Concessions – our Sick Leave has Not changed = ✊ #FairBarg #SOLIDARITY.
These opportunities have given me the skills and the knowledge to embrace and succeed as a Union Leader that I will bring to the position of CEIU Ontario Region NVP.
Sisters and Brothers of CEIU Ontario, I’m asking for your vote for the privilege of serving & working with you, the members of Ontario.  I pledge to work with my counterpart in Ontario, with our Locals and the CEIU Ontario Regional Council, and most important with you the members, for the betterment of all of us:  a better union, a better #CEIU-#SEIC
