2022 CEIU National Human Rights/Race Relations Conference – Vancouver, BC
The conference was held in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia – September 23 to 25th. It started off with a special performance by a Vancouver’s drag queen – Carlotta Gurl the evening of our arrival. Commencing the conference with a beautiful Aboriginal opening ceremony, followed by caucuses for all equity groups. The conference brought us various guest speakers that delivered amazing content surrounding lived experiences of residential school, colonialism, disability, ableism to name a few.
The delegation passed 18 resolutions with only one ruled out of order. If you want to know the details of the resolutions, please reach out to: localceiu581@gmail.com.
Elections for next term (September 2023) were set, our very own Thu Trinh was nominated but lost with a few votes behind. Thu represented Ontario proudly, honoured for the on the floor nominations and was not at all discouraged as she will be running for an alternate position on the CEIU National Human Rights/Race Relations Committee.
