Attn CEIU MEMBERS , especially front end employees
From Crystal Warner, CEIU NEVP
Hello everyone – the union and the employer have begun preliminary discussions at the national level about what a return to work could/should look like, from a health and safety perspective. To be clear, there are no set dates. It will take us weeks nationally to hammer out the details. Longer for the employer to implement necessary changes in the offices before they are safe for employees to work from.
That said, they will have their idea of what is reasonable and we will have ours.
I am posting here hoping to hear from those of you working in the front end, specifically about what considerations would need to occur for you to feel as safe as reasonably possible when there is an eventual re opening of the SCC’s in light of the pandemic. Whatever we negotiate nationally and are able to reach a consensus on with the employer will set a minimum standard in the offices for what must be followed, and from there your regional and local OHS committees will have to engage on site specific considerations.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and concerns. Please know our union is working with the employer at every level to advocate on your behalf.

As someone who is high risk for serious complications, and has a spouse with the same issue I would like to see continued flexibility with work arrangements so I can safely work either from home or have accommodation at work to lessen my chance of being infected and possibly passing it to my wife as well
Thanks. We are a d will certainly continue to advocate for this. Especially for those that are higher risk or have higher risk family members.
